Charity Organisation Awarded $1 Million to Address Youth Mental Health.

Sentry Insurance has announced a generous gift of $1 million to Maui United Way, bolstering its support for youth mental health services in the aftermath of the devastating 2023 wildfires on the Hawaiian island. This funding builds upon the Sentry Mālama Nā Keiki Initiative, a program launched in November 2023 with an initial $1 million donation.

The initiative dispatches trusted teams of mental health counselors to meet with youth in familiar settings such as schools, parks, and community centers. This approach provides care in environments where children feel most at ease. Since its inception, the program has reached over 5,000 children and families across Maui.

The Sentry Mālama Nā Keiki Initiative is a comprehensive program that addresses the unique mental health needs of Maui’s youth. The program’s counselors work closely with local schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers to identify children and families who are most in need of support. The counselors then provide individual and group counseling sessions, as well as educational workshops and support groups for parents and caregivers.

With this latest gift, Sentry’s total contribution to wildfire relief and recovery efforts surpasses $3 million. Maui United Way president and CEO Jason Economou expressed his gratitude, stating:
