The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has cautioned the public against falling for fraudulent recruitment claims being shared online regarding openings in the paramilitary agencies under its purview.
This warning was issued on Tuesday in Abuja through a statement signed by the Board’s Secretary, retired Major General A.M. Jibril.
The Board revealed it had become aware of a letter circulating across various social media channels, which falsely claimed to provide information on an ongoing recruitment drive.
Although the Board confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the hiring of 30,150 individuals into the four paramilitary agencies and an additional 209 personnel into the CDCFIB Secretariat, it emphasized that the recruitment process has not officially started.
According to Jibril, the Board is currently pursuing a waiver to reduce the statutory six-week advertisement period to three weeks, aiming to accelerate the recruitment timeline.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any official recruitment exercise by the Board will be duly advertised in credible national newspapers, and the process will be fair, transparent, and completely free of charge,” the statement said.
The approved recruitment figures are as follows: Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) – 5,150; Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) – 10,000; Federal Fire Service (FFS) – 10,000; Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) – 5,000; and CDCFIB Secretariat – 209.
The Board urged job seekers and the general public to avoid being misled by scammers attempting to exploit the situation with fake job offers.
People were also encouraged to stay alert and report any suspicious persons or employment schemes that demand payment.
CDCFIB reaffirmed its dedication to conducting all recruitment processes with integrity, transparency, and strict adherence to due process.
