Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will be without two important squad members for their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final showdown against Fluminense on Tuesday night.
Defender Levi Colwill and forward Liam Delap are both ruled out of the match due to suspension, having received their second yellow cards of the tournament in the previous fixture against Palmeiras.
During his pre-match press briefing, Maresca hinted that recently signed striker Joao Pedro is expected to step in for Delap, a move that has intensified speculation about Nicolas Jackson’s uncertain status within the team.
“Now with Levi and Liam are out, we’ll find different solutions,” Marasca said.
“Joao Pedro is ready, and we also have Nico. For sure, we’ll find a solution.”
“I think Joao can play in all the attacking positions for Chelsea and that is the difference with Nico.
“I see Nico as just a number 9 but I see Joao in different positions.”
