In an effort to facilitate the transition from Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to Compressed Natural Gas, the Nigerian government has launched a “buy now, pay later” webpage.
Nigerians would be able to convert their gasoline-powered cars to compressed natural gas (CNG) and choose to pay for the conversion fees later with the new website.
The National Orientation Agency, or NOA, released a statement on Tuesday on its official X handle that included this information.
According to the government, drivers can choose to convert their vehicles now and pay for them later at competitive rates through manageable monthly installments.
“Switching to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is now more accessible than ever. With flexible payment plans tailored to fit your budget, transitioning from petrol to CNG has never been smoother or more affordable.
“These payment options allow you to convert your vehicle now and pay later with affordable monthly installments at competitive rates.
“With an easy online application and quick approval process, you’ll receive support every step of the way to ensure a hassle-free experience,” the government stated.
This coincides with the expansion of CNG conversion facilities nationwide by the Nigerian government under the Presidential CNG program.

In the past six months, conversion centers have opened in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Ogun, Ekiti, Nasarawa, and other states.
According to the Federal Government, one million automobiles are expected to be converted by 2027.
The government estimates that the CNG project would result in a 40% reduction in the cost of road transportation.
Nigerians are currently facing increased transportation expenses as a result of the increase in petrol prices from N770 to between N950.22 and N1,100 per liter at the pump.
