Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, has claimed that he did not join the opposition because President Bola Tinubu did not extend an offer of a political position to him.
Amaechi said this on Thursday during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels TV.
“I never stole anything in politics. I don’t drive a Rolls-Royce. I’m not in opposition because Tinubu didn’t give me an appointment. I’m not interested in any appointments.
“If there’s anyone who says Amaechi deceived them, let them come forward. If there was corruption in my tenure, let them come forward. I’m waiting,” he said.
Top politicians, including the former minister of transportation, announced the African Democratic Congress, or ADC, as the coalition’s political platform against Tinubu’s government in Abuja on Wednesday.
Recall that the ADC was accepted as the political party of the opposition coalition on Tuesday in advance of the national elections in 2027.
