Leke Abejide, a lawmaker for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), promised Friday to prove to the opposition alliance that he is the party’s “landlord.”
The ADC would oppose the coalition, according to Abejide, the representative for Kogi state’s Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro in the House of Representatives.
He acknowledged that he was in charge of ADC’s current political success.
According to the legislator, the alliance consisting of Babachir Lawal, Dino Melaye, Rotimi Amaechi, David Mark, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will not be let to take over the ADC without opposition.
He said this in an interview with the Morning Brief on Channels Television.
The recently finished by-elections, according to Abejide, were a wake-up call that the coalition’s days of being expelled from the ADC were drawing to an end.
He said: “You cannot come to somebody’s house, hijack his house, and you think that the person, no matter how stupid he is, will be looking at you.
“I will let them know that I am the landlord. I didn’t establish the party, but I am the one who made the party remain where it is today.”
Abejide has pledged to force the ADC from Atiku and the coalition’s control.
He pointed out that it was against the party’s constitution for the Mark-led alliance to seize control of ADC’s leadership.
In anticipation of the 2027 presidential race, the coalition just assumed control of the ADC.
