The Adamawa State Police Command has issued a caution to schools and individuals regarding the improper use of police and military uniforms, in response to widely circulated images on social media.
These photos captured students dressed in security force outfits during a costume event, engaging in behavior that the police deemed inappropriate and harmful to the image of law enforcement institutions.
This was detailed in a statement released on Friday by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer.
In the release, Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo, referred to the incident as a violation of the law and directed a thorough investigation to identify and take action against those involved.
“The unauthorized use of police uniforms is a serious offence punishable by law. Such acts not only undermine the integrity of our security agencies but also mislead the public and will not be tolerated,” he said.
He further emphasized the command’s stance, calling on schools, organizations, and individuals to cease wearing security uniforms without proper authorization.
“Anyone found engaging in this illegal practice will be decisively dealt with according to the law,” Nguroje warned.
