The battle between the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Adolphus Wabara, the National Chairman of the Board of Trustees, has taken a dramatic turn. The Abia State High Court has stepped in, stopping the enforcement of Wabara’s suspension as BoT Chairman.

The court’s decision came after Wabara filed a suit, marked HUK/8/2025, seeking an order to restrain the defendant, Abraham Amah, from enforcing the suspension. Justice L.T.C. Eruba, who presided over the matter, ruled in Wabara’s favor, also restraining Amah from laying claims to the Abia State PDP chairmanship.

This development is the latest in the ongoing power struggle between Wabara and the Abia State PDP chapter. The chapter had earlier suspended Wabara over alleged anti-party activities, which Wabara has been fighting against.

Granting the prayers of the claimant, the court ordered: “The defendant is restrained from enforcing the suspension of the claimant/applicant from the Peoples Democratic Party, or in any way affecting his position as the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the PDP till the motion on notice is determined.”

A recent controversy has erupted within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Nigeria. Adolphus Wabara, the Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, was suspended by Abraham Amah, who accused Wabara of engaging in anti-party activities. Specifically, Amah took issue with Wabara’s praise for Governor Alex Otti’s performance.

In a separate development, a group called PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has denied allegations made by John Okiyi Kalu, a former Abia State Commissioner for Information. Kalu claimed that Wabara held a secret meeting with Governor Otti in London to discuss Otti’s potential defection to the PDP. The group’s National Coordinator, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, has challenged Kalu to provide evidence of the alleged meeting.

It’s worth noting that the PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has also condemned Amah’s actions, arguing that he lacks the authority to suspend a BoT Chairman. The situation highlights the ongoing power struggles within the PDP in Abia State.
