Dangote Refinery’s petroleum products are not inferior — Aliko

The owner of Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, has refuted a claim made by Farouk Ahmed, the chief executive officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), claiming the refinery’s output is of lower quality than that of imports.

Africa’s richest man, Dangote, made this clarification on Saturday when the leadership of the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbass, toured the facility.

Dangote claims that results from independent checks will differ from the NMDPRA’s.

He said that the specifications examined by the regulator for petroleum products were imported.

According to him: “The imported one they are encouraging is the spec in test, but in certain cases, when you check (independently), different results will show. Because those people who have the lab have been told what to write.”

According to ZINGTIE, Speaker Abbass gave an assurance that lawmakers are determined to tackle all matters impacting the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

“We are working diligently to create a more business-friendly environment through legislative reforms that streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and enhance transparency. Our goal is to make Nigeria an attractive destination for both local and international investors,” he said.

This comes after Farouk Ahmed, CEO of NMDPRA, claimed that petroleum products from Dangote Refinery were not as good as those from other countries.

Ahmed had also stated that the Dangote refinery does not have a permission to operate, pointing out that giving the firm a monopoly in the petroleum products industry is dangerous.

Deep-seated confusion was caused by the development in the nation’s oil and gas industry.

A few days prior, Devakumar Edwin, the vice president of Dangote Industries Limited, made the accusation that foreign oil corporations operating in Nigeria are undermining Dangote Refinery by offering higher rates for crude oil.

This comes after the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, indicated that the 650,000 barrels per day refinery would begin off petroleum supplies by August.
