Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, stated that asset declaration compliance should be the bare minimum requirement for all public office holders in Nigeria.
He stated that no public officer in the country can justify failing to comply.
Additionally, the Governor has instructed that all public officials mandated to declare their assets should do so promptly.
Governor Otti welcomed high-ranking officials from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) South-East zone to his office on Tuesday and stressed that he and his deputy had properly declared their assets prior to taking office.
He pointed out that all public officers and political appointees in the State are required to adhere to the constitutional asset declaration requirement.
“When I hear that some people have not visited the office or have not complied, it is strange,” he said.
The Governor, Otti, instructed Mr. Emmanuel Meribole, the Secretary to the Abia State Government, to collaborate with pertinent officials to guarantee that all officers in the State fully comply.
Mr. Akinfolarin Feyishola, the Zonal Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau for the South-East zone, made an appeal to the Governor during his speech for assistance in helping the CCB educate Abia public office holders about assets declaration.
