Delta Youths Equips 110 Indigenes in Computer Training.

The Owerre-Olubor Youths Association in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State has concluded a five-day free computer application training for 110 indigenes of the community.

At the closing ceremony on Thursday, the president of the association, Mr. Adimabua Ogbu, stated that the training aimed to foster community engagement, socialisation, and networking among youths. He noted that the association, founded five years ago with the support of the traditional ruler, Ogwude Pa Okwuudi Ngwai, prioritises community cohesion, social inclusion, and collaboration with local organisations.

Ogbu emphasized the importance of youth empowerment through education, training, and mentorship. “We should always ask what we can do to better the lives of our people,” he said. “The selection process for the training was inclusive, covering all quarters of the community. This exercise will continue, as an informed society is a developed society.”

Beneficiaries of the training, including 15-year-old Clement Udoka, expressed gratitude to the Owerre-Olubor Youths Association for the initiative. “I enjoyed the program, and it’s surprising to see this kind of gesture; we didn’t pay any money, and we were fed every day of the program.”

Other beneficiaries, Ms. Blessing Abah and Peterson Chinwuedo, thanked the association and called for government partnership to support similar initiatives.

The Owerre-Olubor Youths Association has also been involved in community development projects, including road construction, grading of town roads, and the construction of the 5 km Olubor Link Road.
