Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has called on the party’s newly elected chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to formulate effective strategies aimed at winning the forthcoming governorship elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun.

Speaking with reporters on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye extended his congratulations to Yilwatda on his recent appointment and emphasized the critical importance of securing victories in these off-cycle elections ahead of the 2027 general polls.

Describing the new APC chairman as a man of outstanding integrity and character, Oyintiloye urged him to demonstrate his leadership by ensuring the party achieves resounding success in the upcoming governorship contests.

He also encouraged Yilwatda to build on the efforts of his predecessor by attracting more political figures and supporters from opposition parties to join the APC, particularly to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.

According to Oyintiloye, the chairman’s success will depend on collaborating closely with the party’s state branches to develop tailored strategies that address the unique challenges and dynamics of each state.

He stressed the importance of maintaining the party’s agenda through effective policy-making and the inclusive engagement of key stakeholders throughout every phase of planning and implementation.

“This approach will help the party realize the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by the president,” he noted.

Oyintiloye also highlighted the need for Yilwatda to foster good relations with the current government and the Nigerian public by working with state chapters to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies and initiatives.

“The new national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, is coming in with a lot of experience and with fresh vigor needed to drive our party going into the 2027 general election.

“His emergence is an indication that APC has eggheads with the right approach and ready-made responses to different situations.

“The manner in which he emerged was an indication that we are bright people who can effectively manage our affairs as a party in power.

“Prof. Yilwatda has a serious job on his hands, and I am sure he is aware of this. Off-cycle elections in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun states are around the corner before the 2027 general elections.

“He should work closely with the state chapters to design a winning formula that will work for their various states.

“The leadership of the party at the state levels must have first-hand information and be fully involved in the planning and execution of strategies.

“The three elections must be won, and that tempo must be sustained going into the 2027 polls,” he said..

He also appealed to the chairman to recognize and reward loyal and dedicated party members, ensuring they feel valued and motivated.

However, Oyintiloye stressed the importance of strengthening internal democracy within the APC to safeguard existing members and effectively manage new entrants, thereby preventing possible internal conflicts.

He further stated that those defecting to the APC should not be allowed to displace committed members who have contributed significantly to the party’s growth over the years.
