The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, issued a stern warning on Monday to family heads (Mogajis) and Baales across Ibadanland, cautioning them against misusing their authority to dominate or threaten their relatives or community members.

He gave this warning during the official installation ceremony of nine Mogajis and two Baales.

The ceremony took place at the Olubadan Palace situated in Oke Aremo, within the Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The individuals newly installed as Mogajis include: Mr. Giwa Adeboye Kamaldeen of the Aliiwo Compound in Ibadan North East; Alhaji Kamorudeen Olalekan Adebimpe from the Adebimpe family in Odinjo, Ibadan South East; Alhaji Muritala Iyanda Aloba of the Aloba family in Inalende, Ibadan North; Engr. Kazeem Rabiu of Akinsumbo Compound, Oke-Balogun Opooyeosa, Ibadan North West; and Alhaji Kadir Yusuf Farayola of the Samonda family, Ile Samonda, Oje, Ibadan North East.

The remaining Mogajis are: Mr. Olukayode David Oduntan Awise from the Oduntan Awise Compound in Oke-Offa, Ibadan North East; Alhaji Abideen Mustapha of the Eleko family, Kososi Street, Idi Arere, Ibadan South West; Mr. Yinusa Taiwo Ibilade Apapa from Apapa Compound, Labiran, Ibadan North East; and Alhaji Sholagbade Nureni Oladejo Arapaja of the Arapaja family in Kudeti, Ibadan South West.

The newly appointed Baales are Chief Raimi Ibrahim Edujobi of Edujobi village, Egbeda Local Government, and Mr. Morakinyo Muniru Fagbemi from Fagbemi village, Akinyele Local Government.

Speaking on behalf of the Olubadan, the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Senator) Sharafadeen Alli, emphasized that all traditional title holders must refrain from using their titles to mistreat those under their authority.

The monarch stressed that the newly installed individuals serve as his delegates.

He also reminded them that their roles come with the responsibility to foster harmony and order in their local areas.

Additionally, he encouraged them to avoid any behavior that might damage the integrity of Ibadan’s traditional institution.

“Desist from any act that can tarnish the reputation of the traditional institution, such as land grabbing, insubordination to elders within your families, and oppression of family members whom you represent,” the Olubadan warned the newly installed chiefs.
