The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have renewed their strategic partnership to support out-of-school children and expand economic opportunities for youth across Latin America and the Caribbean. The five-year agreement aims to mobilize up to $100 million in co-financing, with $40 million in EAA grants supported by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and $60 million in IDB loans.
Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Acting CEO of EAA Foundation, emphasized the shared commitment to ensuring every child and young person has access to quality primary education and skills for a brighter future. “This renewed partnership between EAA Foundation and IDB reinforces our shared commitment to ensure that every child and young person, regardless of their circumstances, has access to quality primary education and the skills they need to build a brighter future,” he said. “By addressing systemic barriers to education and equipping youth with pathways to employment, we are investing in sustainable solutions that can empower entire communities.”
IDB President Ilan Goldfajn highlighted the partnership’s focus on real outcomes, such as bringing children back to school, improving learning quality, expanding vocational training, and connecting youth to the labor market. “This partnership is about real outcomes, bringing children back to school, improving the quality of learning, expanding vocational training and connecting youth to the labor market,” he said. “It reflects our shared commitment to inclusive opportunity and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
*Key Areas of Focus:*
– *Reintegrating Out-of-School Children*: Bringing children back into quality primary education
– *Vocational Training and Employment*: Scaling post-secondary and vocational learning, creating pathways to employment and self-employment for youth aged 18-35
– *Climate Resilience*: Embedding resilience and climate adaptability into secondary curricula
– *Innovative Financing*: Leveraging blended finance models and regional programs like the “ONE Caribbean” initiative
This partnership builds on the success of their previous collaboration, which supported the education of over 112,000 children in Haiti since 2019. The renewed agreement expands the scope of collaboration, deepening the focus on employability, resilience, and innovative partnerships.
