Ebonyi: Police foil robbery attack, rescue kidnapped victim, arrest 3 suspects

In its battle against criminal elements operating within the state, the Ebonyi State Command claims to have achieved yet another noteworthy victory.

It disclosed that it neutralized the perpetrator, stopped an armed robbery attempt, and saved the victim.

It said that on November 12, 2025, while on patrol along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road, Command personnel heard intermittent gunshots and cries of anguish.

When officers arrived at the scene quickly, they saw Ali Solomon fighting three armed criminals who were trying to take away his motorcycle.

The thugs opened fire and ran away when they saw the police. One of the suspects was neutralized by the operatives’ return fire, and one AK-47 rifle that contained ten (10) rounds of ammo was recovered.

In a same vein, on November 13, 2025, a kidnapping syndicate terrorizing the Ezzangbo axis in Ohaukwu LGA kidnapped an Obasi ThankGod, bound him, and left him in a hotel restroom while demanding a ransom of five million Naira (₦5,000,000).

Operatives of the Command successfully freed the victim, located the kidnappers’ hideout, and apprehended three suspects after conducting thorough intelligence collection.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, provided journalists in Abakaliki with a statement on Sunday that included this information.

Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu, and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa were named in the statement. After the investigation is over, the suspects, who are presently being held, will face charges in court.

CP Adaku Uche-Anya, the Commissioner of Police, reaffirmed the Command’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding everyone’s life and property and making sure that criminal elements have nowhere to hide in the state.

She also thanked the wonderful people of Ebonyi State for their unwavering support, especially with timely and reliable information that helps the Command carry out its duty.
