Kingsley Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has revealed that, during the past few months, he has turned down almost all requests from Nigerian media for interviews about the nation’s economy.

Seemingly implying that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not prepared to consider his ideas, Moghalu argued that there was no purpose in a conversation of the deaf.

This was announced by the former deputy governor on Tuesday in a post on his X handle.

His statement follow the nation’s increasing economic suffering and hunger, which were brought on by the Naira’s floating and the withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy by Tinubu’s administration.

Kalu Aja, a financial expert and educator, recently clarified that Tinubu’s administration made a mistake in how palliative measures were put in place after the Naira was floating and the fuel subsidy was removed.

Aja said that the CNG buses have remained a dream, pointing out that it took the Nigerian government a year to realise that food imports were necessary and even to write a plan.

In the meantime, Moghalu gave an explanation for his refusal to accept requests from Nigerian media for interviews on the subject, stating that he has previously given numerous speeches on the subject of fixing Nigeria’s economy.

His words: “I’ve declined virtually all requests for interviews on the Nigerian economy from Nigerian media over the past several months. Why? There is no point in a dialogue of the deaf. I’ve already spoken a lot about how to fix Nigeria’s economy. Anyone interested can find what I’ve said.”

He continued: “It’s ironic that people like us who actually do not need Nigeria and its economy for our personal survival are so concerned simply out of passion for our country, but after a while, we must recognize the harsh truth and act accordingly.”
