Former Edo State governor and senator from the Edo North senatorial district, Adams Oshiomhole, has publicly begged Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, also known as the Esama of Benin, for forgiveness for any wrongs committed while he was governor.
The lawmaker said on Saturday in Benin, the capital of Edo State, during a goodwill speech during Igbinedion’s 90th birthday celebration.
When Oshiomhole was elected governor of the state, he expressed gratitude to Igbinedion for his support, saying that he would not have won the election otherwise.
He continued, “I have always looked for one opportunity to say to the Esama of the universe that I am sorry for any of the things that I said knowingly or unknowingly or any of the things that I did that a son should never have done to a father.
“On your 90th birthday, I ask for your forgiveness, and I pray that you grant it.
“I want to publicly acknowledge your support for me in 2007 and 2008, without which I might never have become the governor of Edo State.”
According to ZINGTIE, the lawmaker appears to be looking to support the All Progressives Congress in the run-up to the state’s governorship election on September 21.
In an effort to guarantee that Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate, becomes the next governor of the state, Oshiomhole has been constructing bridges.
