Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited has launched the NatnuPreneur Seller Scheme Hub & Spoke Model in Edo State, a tripartite collaboration with the Edo State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and Heifer International. This initiative aims to empower agripreneurs and smallholder farmers, improving access to affordable animal protein.¹
The scheme features a hub-and-spoke distribution model, enhancing local food supply chains. Each hub is equipped with solar-powered freezers, while attached Spokes receive insulated mobile carts and parasols for daily sales, strengthening small businesses and local animal protein availability.
At the launch, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, handed over empowerment equipment to beneficiaries, encouraging them to maximise the opportunity to boost animal protein supply, improve earnings, and raise their standard of living.
“Let us build an ecosystem that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. Together, we can create a brighter future for our people,” Mrs. Anani stated.
Alaba Yunusa, Deputy Head of Business for natnudO Foods, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, reiterating the natnupreneur programme’s commitment to increasing local production, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring quality protein accessibility for all Nigerians.
Yunusa highlighted NatnudO’s chicken processing plant in Edo State, which can process 10,000 birds daily, leveraging innovative technology to support smallholder farmers. The company commissioned a new processing plant in Benin City in November 2024, reinforcing its commitment to boosting food security and making quality animal protein affordable for all Nigerians.
“We are committed to increasing local production, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring quality protein is accessible to all Nigerians,” Yunusa said. “Our chicken processing plant in Edo State is a testament to this commitment, and we are proud to be partnering with the Edo State Government and Heifer International to empower agripreneurs and smallholder farmers.”
The natnuPreneur programme is designed to provide entrepreneurs with the resources and support they need to succeed in the poultry industry. “We believe that by empowering entrepreneurs, we can create a more sustainable and equitable food system,” Yunusa said.
