EFCC operatives raid MKO Abiola Stadium, Obasanjo library, arrest youths

Agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly raided the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, targeting a group of young individuals allegedly involved in cybercrime.

The operation took place early Sunday during a Wet & Rave Splash Extravaganza event hosted at the OOPL’s Rounda recreational area.

A widely circulated video captured the moment attendees fled in panic during the nighttime operation.

During the raid, several individuals were reportedly taken into custody, while authorities confiscated “more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items.”

Sources indicated that the team responsible for the operation came from the EFCC’s Lagos office.

Vitalis Ortese, Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, acknowledged the development but refrained from giving specific details.

He said , “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know.”

When approached for comment, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said he would verify the situation and respond accordingly.

In a separate incident earlier that week, officials from the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Office apprehended 56 individuals, including a suspected cybercriminal, at K-Hotel in the Itori area of Ewekoro Local Government.

The commission stated that the arrests were based on credible intelligence regarding suspected fraudulent and illegal dealings.

Confiscated items from the operation included two homemade firearms, six high-end vehicles, 89 mobile devices, several laptops, and numerous documents believed to be incriminating.
