Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, witnessed the signing of a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Ain Shams University and the University of Exeter. This agreement marks the establishment of the University of Exeter’s first African campus in Egypt, a groundbreaking achievement that will enhance academic collaboration between Egypt and the UK.

The campus, located at Ain Shams University’s international campus, will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs accredited by the University of Exeter. This partnership will provide Egyptian students with access to high-quality education, preparing them to compete in both local and global job markets.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour described the project as a “groundbreaking achievement” that signifies the transformative potential of higher education collaboration. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing research innovation to tackle global challenges.

The British Ambassador to Egypt, Gareth Bayley, expressed his pride in the establishment of the University of Exeter’s branch campus in Cairo. He noted that British education holds a prestigious global reputation, and this new partnership will open doors for Egyptian youth to access high-quality British education.

Ain Shams University President Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abidine called the partnership a “transformative moment” for both his university and higher education across Egypt and Africa. He emphasized that this collaboration will combine world-class education and research with a commitment to solving local and global challenges.

Lisa Roberts, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, highlighted the importance of global partnerships in addressing critical challenges and making higher education accessible. She expressed excitement about the collaboration with Ain Shams University and reaffirmed Exeter’s commitment to academic excellence, knowledge exchange, and creating a lasting positive impact worldwide.
