Rumors that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) executive committee in Kaduna State’s Ungwar Sarki Ward are planning to defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have been refuted.
ZINGTIE recounts that once Mallam Nasir El-Rufai defected to the SDP, there were widespread rumors that the EXCO members would quickly join the party.
However, the Ungwar Sarki Ward EXCO has refuted the rumor, claiming that despite their allegiance and support for the party throughout El-Rufai’s administration, they were totally disregarded and abandoned.
The ward chairman, Aliyu Ibrahim, lamented, while visiting former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani, “The EXCO members were neglected for eight years during the days of El-Rufai as governor.
“It was really that bad that not even a dime was given to support us, loyal to the party.”
Sani responded by cautioning them against being tricked into switching from the APC to the SDP.
During the general elections in 2027, he urged the ward executives to stay with the party and support Governor Uba Sani.
