According to Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the North will regain control in 2031.

Ganduje made an offer that the North would regain control once President Bola Tinubu finished his second term.

He made this revelation to members of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum (TNYF), PBAT Media Center, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Center while they were visiting the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Northerners who want to run for president should wait till 2031, the former governor of Kano State urged.

Because of the current North-South zoning arrangement, Ganduje pointed out that it would be unrealistic to believe that the presidency will move to the North in two years.

“When a leader from the northern part of this country was in office for eight years, we advocated that the next president in our party should come from the South.

“Luckily enough, we worked very hard with the cooperation of Nigerians.

“Our president has come from the South and he is going, inshallah, for the second term in 2027. And then after that, it will turn to the northern part of this country,” he said.

This comes only days after Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, supported a post on X that predicted Tinubu will be rejected by the North in 2027.

According to the newspaper, former President Goodluck Jonathan was rebuffed by the North in 2015 for undervaluing the area.
