Bello El-Rufa’i, the eldest son of Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has expressed his disgust with the feud between his father and the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, adding that he is unable to intervene and reconcile both men.
Bello, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, also stated that it was not a bad thing for Sani’s administration to investigate El-Rufa’i’s government, as long as it was done with a clear intention and not to humiliate anyone due to perceived animosity.
Speaking during a broadcast on BBC Hausa, the federal lawmaker said he was not happy watching his father and Governor Sani at odds, particularly given the importance they had in his life.
“It is not a bad thing to investigate but it should be done with clear intention and not to humiliate anyone or because someone has offended you. But if you are doing it for selfish reasons, Allah will judge. Allah will forgive your frailties, but will not overlook the harm you inflict on someone,” he said.
Bello also blamed the consequences on the unavoidable vicissitudes of life, stating that “marriages sometimes break, friends can cut ties. But it is important to maintain and preserve the ties, no matter what.”
Although he claimed to be unaware of the source of the feud between his father and Governor Sani, Bello questioned whether the two held any grudges against each other.
“None of them told me anything about the rift. I only got to understand that things are no longer as before, the issue was only being overly exaggerated ”
“It’s unsettling, I wouldn’t love to see my enemies picking a fight with each other. I love peace.”
He replied those asking him to settle the rift saying “It is not my job. Mine is to focus on delivering on my mandate to the good people of Kaduna North. I love peace and fidelity. But for me, if I were to join issues with anyone, I’d rather approach it not publicly.
“For me, politically speaking, Mallam Nasiru has no equal. He is only concentrating on his work. He’s a father, he’s my father. It is surprising that some people are waiting for me to say something about Governor Uba.”
