Elon Musk blasts reports of Romania, states some clarification

Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, has criticized Romania’s reported plans to suspend TikTok.

In a tweet on his X account on Monday, Musk described the potential move as an attempt at censorship.

“You can tell who the bad guys are by who is demanding censorship,”Musk wrote, responding to reports suggesting that the Romanian government might block TikTok until state institutions finish their investigation into the first round of presidential elections.

This follows violent protests on Sunday after the Electoral Commission disqualified frontrunner Călin Georgescu from the race.

Musk also reacted to the decision to bar Georgescu from the presidential election, calling it “crazy.”

On Sunday, Romania’s electoral authority disqualified Georgescu from running in May’s election after receiving over 1,000 challenges, most of which were related to his anti-democratic and extremist views.
