African investor and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has urged global investors to tap into Africa’s vast potential, promising unmatched returns on investment. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Elumelu showcased the African investment opportunity, highlighting his own investment vehicle, Heirs Holdings’, 15-year track record of returns and impact.

“While my investments span four continents, nowhere matches Africa’s ROI potential,” Elumelu stated, emphasising Africa’s enormous demographic potential. “60 percent of Africans are under 25, we have the youngest, most dynamic generation globally.”

Elumelu invests in strategic sectors that offer high returns and drive Africa’s economic renaissance, guided by his Africapitalism philosophy. This approach prioritises the private sector’s role in driving economic growth and development. He noted that Africa’s power sector, in particular, presents a huge opportunity. “HH has the capacity to generate 2,000 megawatts of electricity daily, and today, we generate about 750 megawatts. Our investment transforms lives and powers industries.”

As Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Elumelu has empowered 20,000 young entrepreneurs across 54 African countries, creating over 400,000 jobs within local communities. He emphasised the importance of reframing Africa’s challenges as opportunities for investment, particularly in infrastructure development. “The challenges we face are opportunities, especially infrastructure, access to electricity, power development on the continent, and transportation.

Elumelu concluded by urging investors to reconsider their perceptions of Africa. “This isn’t charity—it’s the smartest capital allocation of our lifetime. The question isn’t if, but how fast you’ll join us.
