Andy Grey, a former player for Aston Villa, has suggested that Arsenal make a whopping £100 million offer to “tempt” Aston Villa into selling their top striker Ollie Watkins.

Watkins is a better finisher than the Germany international, according to Grey.

Arsenal’s initial offer of £60 million for Watkins was turned down by Aston Villa.

Before the January transfer window ends in a few days, Mikel Arteta’s team is in a desperate search for a new striker.

“I would be amazed if Aston Villa decided, for any money, to part ways with Ollie Watkins. I would be amazed,” Gray said on beIN SPORTS.

“Arsenal are his boyhood club so it is always your dream to play for them, especially when they’re as good as they are.

“I actually think he would be a good fit for Arsenal, I really do. But I wouldn’t like to see him leave Aston Villa right now, especially with the uncertainty around Duran.

“He is a better finisher than Kai Havertz, he would score a lot more goals because he knows how to play in that position better than Havertz. In that team, Arsenal create so much so he would get goals.

“Arsenal are panicking with a few days to go, throw £100million on the table and see if that tempts them.”

Watkins helped Aston Villa to beat Celtic 4-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
