Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has expressed his desire to continue playing alongside Virgil van Dijk next season.
Salah recently put an end to speculation about his future at Anfield by signing a two-year contract extension on Friday.
At 33 years old, Salah had been facing the prospect of becoming a free agent, much like Van Dijk, who is currently in the same situation.
However, there is growing optimism at Liverpool that the club’s captain will also agree to new terms.
Van Dijk scored the decisive goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday, celebrating by kissing the badge on his shirt in front of the passionate Kop supporters.
When asked about the celebration after the match, Van Dijk said: “Everyone knows how much I love this club, and let’s see what next week will look like.”
Salah added: “I am glad we managed to do that [contract] before the end of the season. Hopefully, Virgil will be next.
“He can do whatever he wants, but I would love to play with him next season.”
