EPL: Schmeichel warns Arsenal, Man City about ‘serious’ title contenders

The legendary Peter Schmeichel of Manchester United has stated that Aston Villa is a serious contender for the Premier League championship this year.

The team led by Unai Emery has already won nine straight games in all competitions.

After a dismal start to the season, Villa has risen to the top of the league standings.

At the London Stadium on Sunday, they overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat West Ham 3-2.

After 16 games, they are now one point behind Manchester City and three points behind leaders Arsenal.

“To go to the that stadium and West Ham, who have not performed well, but better in recent weeks,” Schmeichel told ViaPlay.

“To go and get three points having been 2-0 down, that is strength.

“That scares me a little bit because the next game we’re going to do is at Villa Park, Villa versus Manchester United, so I’m a little bit scared of that.”
