Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United forward, has shared his predictions for the 2025/2026 Premier League campaign.

During an appearance on BBC Sport’s Match of the Day, Rooney tipped Liverpool to retain their league crown for a second straight season.

The Merseyside club clinched the title last time out, ending the season 10 points clear of Arsenal.

Rooney anticipates that Arsenal will once again settle for second place, with Manchester City and Chelsea making up the rest of the top four.

He also believes his former side will bounce back from their 15th-place finish and secure fifth this time around.

“I still think they need one or two more signings,” Rooney said about United.

“But I can see what Amorim is doing. It is looking for better for United. I think they can sneak into the top five.”
