Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne was hospitalized after a friend, Steve Foster, discovered him collapsed at his Dorset home.
Reports from The Sun indicate that Gascoigne was found semi-conscious in his bedroom.
He was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.
The 58-year-old has since been transferred to an acute medical ward and is currently in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Foster, who found Gascoigne, said in a brief statement: “He would like to thank everyone for the support he is received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best.”
Gascoigne earned 57 caps for England’s national team between 1988 and 1998.
Throughout his career, he played for clubs including Burnley, Middlesbrough, Everton, Boston United, and the Chinese side Gansu Tianma before retiring in 2004.
