Family of abducted Kogi first-class traditional ruler cries for help

Public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations have been called upon by the family of a first-class traditional ruler, Pa. Dada James Ogunyanda, the Obalohun of Okoloke community of Yagba West local government, Kogi State, who is being held captive by kidnappers, to assist them in paying the N50 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers.

By 2 a.m. last Thursday, the elite traditional ruler was kidnapped from his palace and forcibly transported to an unidentified location.

The palace has refuted reports in the media that the kidnappers had lowered the ransom to N12 million.

According to a source, “as of Sunday the family members have raised the sum of N25m, but the kidnappers are insisting on N50m. They originally demanded N100m.”

He clarified that the main source of their family’s annoyance was the fact that several politicians who were their friends had deserted them, even blocking their lines.

He went on to say that they were extremely concerned about their king’s declining health.

In order to assist them in raising the money, he also urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Oduagham, Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Sunday Karimi, Hon. Leke Abejide, Hon. Faleke, and other state and local government chairmen.

He implored all imams and pastors to continue praying for God’s intervention.

“We are also appealing to the security agencies to intensify their efforts to rescue the old man alive and unhurt.

“We value him so much. We are praying that God will give the security agencies upper hand in their work to rescue all victims in captivity,” he said.
