Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, representing the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, has dismissed claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rejected the Federal University of Education Numan Bill, explaining that the presidency only requested some adjustments to the bill.

During a feedback meeting with stakeholders in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, Senator Yaroe reiterated his commitment to fixing the identified clerical errors and ensuring the bill becomes law.

“The bill was not entirely rejected; rather, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requested some corrections to ensure accuracy in the proposed law for the teacher-training institution,” he stated.

He explained that one of the main revisions needed concerns the allocation of authority over land-related issues.

“For instance, we mistakenly assigned the power to grant land authority to the governor instead of the president, who is the rightful visitor for the institution,” Yaroe explained.

He expressed hope that once these required amendments are made, the bill will gain the president’s approval.

“I believe if those grey areas observed by the presidency are corrected, that would give the president the latitude to assent to it and make it law, as required by the country’s constitution,” he added.

Yaroe reassured his constituents that the updated bill would be resubmitted when the Senate reconvenes.

“We will rectify this error by replacing the governor with the president in the bill and resubmit it to the presidency as soon as possible,” he said.
