The federal government announced plans to expand natural food production by increasing agricultural inputs and providing farmers with various forms of support.

According to Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, the goal is to deter overuse of pesticides in agricultural systems.

According to Kyari, the government is giving organic fertiliser development and use in both large-scale and small-scale agricultural top priority.

As the technical council of the 46TH Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security reviewed several memoranda filed by stakeholders, the minister gave a speech in Calabar, Cross River State.

According to him: “The entire approach is to enhance agricultural productivity and production in the country.

“Our assistance to farmers in the provision of inputs has contributed to the output of crops.

“We will always facilitate rural communities, roads, electricity, boreholes, water harvesting structure, land clearing activity and appropriate technologies.”

He urged international support partners and stakeholders to adhere to the values of openness, inclusivity,

setting priorities and collaborating on national agricultural projects.

In order to strengthen synergy, the minister clarified that the 46th National Council on Agriculture and Food Security serves as a forum for evaluating current national and subnational policies, programs, and projects.

In his capacity as his deputy, Peter Odey, Governor Bassey Otu praised the agricultural measures, promising that they would support Nigerian farmers and ensure food security.

He revealed that in order to reposition itself in the upcoming months, the state has made significant investments in the agricultural sector.

The council meeting’s goal, according to Temitope Fashedemi, permanent secretary at the ministry, was to streamline concepts and plans in order to realise the potential, prospects and opportunities in the agricultural sector of Nigeria.
