FIFA has decided to exclude referee Jean-Jacques Ndala from the list of officials for the 2026 World Cup.
The Congolese referee, who officiated the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between Morocco and Senegal, will not be part of this summer’s tournament.
The AFCON final, which saw Senegal defeat Morocco 1-0 in Rabat, was marred by controversy and chaos.
Following the match, Ndala faced heavy criticism for his handling of the game.
Ndala failed to blow the final whistle even after Senegal players staged a walk-off and didn’t issue any yellow cards when they returned to the field.
As a result, FIFA has excluded Ndala from the roster of referees for the upcoming World Cup.
In response, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped Senegal of their title, but the West African nation has appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
