President Bola Tinubu responded to the results of the recent local government elections in Rivers State while on leave in the United Kingdom.
ZINGTIE recalls that all 23 local council elections in the state were won by the APP with support from Fubara, leading the governor to declare them official on Sunday.
However, in response to the growing tensions that followed the local government council election on Saturday, the state’s president voiced grave concerns over reports of explosions and arson.
All political actors, in Tinubu’s opinion, must defuse the situation and dissuade their supporters from using violence or other damaging methods.
Additionally, Tinubu gave the police orders to take urgent action to maintain law and order and restore peace.
The President stressed the need of ensuring the security of public institutions while giving instructions to law enforcement officials to get the situation under control in a Monday speech through his media assistant, Bayo Onanuga.
He issued a warning, saying that public-funded government buildings need to be protected from damage.
He emphasised that, particularly after 25 years of nonstop democracy, self-help has no place in a democratic society.
President Tinubu asserts that all political conflicts may be resolved by the judiciary, and the results of this election should be no different.
