Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has partnered with U.S.-based SBTS Group LLC to launch an ambitious initiative aimed at bridging Nigeria’s digital skills gap and boosting employment. The partnership seeks to create 50,000 jobs and train five million Nigerian youths by 2030.

According to DBI’s Head of Public Affairs, Akin Ogunlade, this initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020-2030) and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

DBI’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Daser David, emphasised the crucial role Nigerian youths play in transforming the economy into a thriving digital hub. “This initiative bridges opportunity gaps by providing after-school programmes in digital literacy and vocational training for underserved youth, empowering them to compete in a tech-driven job market and fuelling inclusive economic growth,” he said.

The partnership will establish Business Process Outsourcing centres at DBI campuses nationwide, generating thousands of jobs in the global digital economy. These centres will equip Nigerian youth with in-demand skills in cybersecurity, software development, data analytics, and cloud computing.

Evelyn Lewis, SBTS Group’s Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “Despite the negativity and sense of hopelessness often portrayed, there are abundant opportunities for youths in Nigeria. We are excited to collaborate with DBI in advancing the Federal Government’s agenda to train and equip unemployed youth with digital skills and ICT knowledge, empowering them for a brighter future.

The initiative will integrate digital skills in vocational education, establish on-the-job training systems, and engage both public and private sector employers in digital job creation. Training has already commenced at DBI’s Enugu and Kano campuses, with more locations set to follow.

SBTS Group will provide both technical and financial support to ensure Nigerian youths receive industry-relevant training that meets global standards. The programme will also promote youth-led digital entrepreneurship, equipping participants with the tools to launch and scale their businesses in the digital space.

As stated, “With over 400 new digital courses, hands-on learning, and facility upgrades, the DBI-SBTS partnership aims to diversify Nigeria’s economy through ICT, drive digital entrepreneurship, and create sustainable jobs.
