Floods disrupt European Parliament elections

Voters in the European Parliament elections have been impacted by the recent flooding in the German state of Bavaria; several polling places have had to move, and there have been complaints of voting documents being misplaced.

Thomas Gössl, the state election officer of Bavaria, stated on Thursday that temporary municipal administrations had been established because town halls in certain impacted areas were still unusable.

But, he added, discussions with the local election officials have demonstrated that the election can be carried out correctly.

Gössl advises voters who either never received their voting documents or misplaced them as a result of the floods to get in touch with their local government right once in order to obtain new ones.

According to Gössl, Bavaria can still issue new voting cards until 12 pm (1000 GMT) on Saturday, NAN reports.
