The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation has awarded 539 grants totaling $208 million to support non-profit organizations addressing community health needs and disparities in health outcomes across New York State. This latest round of funding brings the foundation’s total grantmaking to over $1 billion since it’s inception in 2018.

The grants focus on core program areas, including:

– Access to healthcare

– Basic needs such as food and housing

– Healthcare workforce development

– Mental and behavioral health

Additionally, the foundation dedicated over $17 million to specific areas of focus within these core programs. The foundation awarded $5.4 million to help integrate immigrants into the healthcare workforce and address the state’s healthcare workforce shortage.

Key grant recipients include:

– Sunnyside Community Services ($5.4 million) to support its Home Health Aide program in Queens, which provides career development opportunities for unemployed individuals, primarily immigrant women.

– Le Moyne College’s Healthcare Advancement Resource Center ($5.4 million) to help individuals with international medical training obtain credentials and training needed to work in the local healthcare sector.

– Maimonides Medical Center ($3.8 million) to improve maternal health outcomes through integrated developmental, mental health, and behavioral health supports for families.

– Lifespan of Greater Rochester ($3.7 million) to address the mental health of rural older adults through recovery and wellness intervention programs.

“We are humbled by the wide-ranging impact our grantmaking has made in just six years, and most importantly, by the dedication of our grantee partners to improve the health of the people of New York State,” said Mother Cabrini Health Foundation CEO Gregory Mustaciuolo.

“These new grants mark a significant milestone in our work and reaffirm our commitment to being responsive to emerging health challenges facing the most vulnerable children and adults in our communities.”
