The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation in New York City has announced grants totalling $51 million to support nurses and nursing programs at 13 New York State hospitals serving high-need populations. The funding, awarded through the foundation’s new Nursing Initiative grant program, aims to help hospitals achieve industry-leading frameworks in nursing excellence and support front-line nurses.
Each hospital will receive between $1 million and $5 million over five years to pursue American Nursing Credentialing Centre Magnet Recognition or Pathway to Excellence status. The grant will also assist hospitals in establishing or expanding virtual nursing and nurse residency programs. The initiative will support more than 6,500 nurses statewide and positively impact care for over seven million outpatient visits annually
“The grant will enable us to invest in our nurses and improve patient care” is underscored by the foundation’s goal. Mother Cabrini Health Foundation CEO Msgr. Gregory Mustaciuolo said, “From Binghamton to the Bronx, New York nurses are the backbone of patient care, demonstrating dedication and resilience. Our Nursing Initiative is designed to provide the resources needed to ensure they can thrive and deliver the highest quality of care.”
“By supporting nurses, we are investing in better patient care and outcomes,” Mustaciuolo added. Recipient hospitals include Auburn Community Hospital, Calvary Hospital, Rome Memorial Hospital, and Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital, among others.
