The 234 Project Foundation has distributed reusable sanitary kits to 200 schoolgirls in Lagos and Kaduna States as part of its commitment to improving menstrual and reproductive health among young girls.
The distribution, which took place under the foundation’s “Beyond the Cycle Outreach”, was held in Makoko, Lagos, and within the Kaduna metropolis. It also featured sensitisation sessions for female pupils on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health awareness.
Speaking on the initiative, the foundation’s leaders, Mobolaji Sokunbi and Akin Akinboro, explained that the programme, carried out in partnership with Project Red Africa, was designed to address the challenge of poor menstrual hygiene caused by poverty.
“The practice of using unsafe alternatives during menstruation is a direct result of economic hardship,” Sokunbi said.
“This initiative is in line with our resolve to transform lives, unlock potential, and build communities where Nigerian youth can excel.” Akinboro added
The outreach formed part of the 234 Impact Tour ’25, a weeklong series of events that included an AI Hackathon & Arts Fair, a Culture & Commerce Expo, and a Leadership Summit.
At the Hackathon Fair, held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, 12 teams competed for prizes, with the top three teams winning ₦200,000, ₦150,000, and ₦100,000, respectively. The event also supported 80 businesses through seed funding and grants.
The Culture & Commerce Expo, hosted at the Federal University of Education, Zaria, attracted hundreds of students who participated in business showcases, cultural exhibitions, and a raffle draw. Five winners of the business pitch contest received ₦100,000 each, while the audience choice award winner received ₦50,000. Top performers in the cultural exhibition also went home with cash prizes.
The Leadership Summit in Yaba, Lagos, brought together 50 young leaders to rethink and reimagine the future of leadership in Nigeria.
Country Director of the foundation, Ifeoluwa Oyebisi, said the 234 Impact Tour had touched lives across the country.
“The initiative, aimed at transformation and innovation, impacted over 1,530 beneficiaries across seven states and the Federal Capital Territory, leaving behind a trail of empowerment, hope, and opportunity,” Oyebisi stated
