Foundations, Companies, and Philanthropists Mobilize in Support of LA Wildfire Relief.

As containment efforts for the largest wildfires in Los Angeles County continue, philanthropic and charitable contributions have surged to support disaster relief efforts. Major foundations and companies in the greater Los Angeles area have mobilized to provide aid, with the California Community Foundation (CCF) raising over $20 million to date.

The CCF will focus its grantmaking on critical areas, including community assistance, economic recovery, health and social services, and support for underserved communities, such as Black, Indigenous, Latino, and immigrant populations.

The Latino Community Foundation has announced $1 million in grants from its California Wildfire Relief Fund, providing immediate relief through cash assistance and other support to those impacted by the fires, including day laborers, domestic workers, and small business owners.

The Wonderful Company has committed $10 million, including $1 million to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation and $500,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation. Sony Group has also announced $5 million in relief funds.

Outside of California, the Home Depot Foundation has committed $1 million to support partners such as World Central Kitchen (WCK), Operation Blessing, and Convoy of Hope.

Several companies, including Comcast, Netflix, and Amazon, have each donated $10 million to nonprofits on the ground, such as Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, LAFD Foundation, and the American Red Cross.

Los Angeles sports teams have also pledged support, committing $8 million to support victims and firefighting crews. Funds will be distributed to various organizations, including the Red Cross, LAFD Foundation, and local animal rescue organizations.
