A human rights organisation, Stand For Humanity Foundation, has successfully raised over N2 million through an online fundraising campaign for a visually impaired woman, Alice Audu, to improve her business and living conditions. The foundation’s founder, Chidiebube Okeoma, expressed gratitude to Nigerians who contributed to the campaign, saying, “We are happy to announce that the online fundraisingadvocacy we championed for our visually impaired sister, Alice Audu… has exceeded N2m with little figure as we speak.”
The campaign initially aimed to raise N175,000 for a baking oven, but donations surpassed expectations. Okeoma stated that the foundation had fixed N1 million out of the total sum in a Unity Bank account opened for Audu after buying her the baking oven, renewing her house rent in advance, and purchasing a washing machine, foodstuff, and business equipment.
“We did all this for her because we observed that some people wanted to exploit her because of her condition when the donations became huge, and we waded in immediately and transparently guided her all through,” Okeoma said. The foundation also took Audu for a thanksgiving service, acknowledging God’s intervention in her life
