Ganduje Probe: Court gives 48-hours ultimatum to 2 Judges in Kano

Judges Farouk Lawan Adamu and Zuwaira Yusuf of Kano have been given 48 hours to step down from the committee investigating former governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, appointed the two justices to the positions of chairman of the judicial commissions investigating political violence and missing persons, and for the recovery of misappropriated public properties and assets, respectively.

The directive was given on Thursday at the ruling of a Federal High Court in Kano, which is chaired by Justice Simon Amobeda. The petition was brought by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who asked the court to prevent Governor Yusuf from looking into his administration.

He stated that in the event that the judges fail to meet the 48-hour limit, the National Judicial Council (the first defendant) will immediately cease to pay the judges any compensation, benefits, or allowances intended for judicial officers from the Federation’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.

Attorney-General Kano State is the third defendant in the lawsuit, followed by the National Judicial Council as the first defendant, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission as the second, and Hon. Justices Farouk Lawan Adamu and Zuwaira Yusuf as the fourth and fifth defendants, respectively.
