Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced that more important members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will soon join the ruling party.
Speaking on Sunday at an empowerment program in Kano, Ganduje said he was confident that the opposition was being drawn to the APC because of its policies and administration style.
“We thank you very much for resisting the campaign from different political parties, especially that dying party called NNPP,” he said.
“We thank you for creating a conducive environment and behaving so well. We thank you for inviting them into our party. They are coming into our party in silence, and very soon, we will receive senior officers, legislators, senators, former this, former that, from that dying party, NNPP. They will all come to our party, the great APC.”
His remarks coincide with rumors that some well-known NNPP members may be thinking about joining the APC because they are unhappy with the party’s leadership and policy.
Additionally, there has been controversy surrounding the attendance of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, to the private ceremony of an opposition senator in Kano.
A protracted leadership struggle within the APC caused Senator Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to leave the party before the 2023 elections.
