Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the immediate former governor of Kano State and former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rejected the Kano State government’s request for his arrest.

He characterized the call as reckless and baseless.

Edwin Olofu, Ganduje’s chief press secretary, made this revelation in a statement.

The statement claimed that the action by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration demonstrated a lack of attention to the state’s actual security concerns.

“It is deeply unfortunate that rather than addressing the escalating insecurity ravaging the state, Governor Yusuf has chosen to chase shadows while searching for scapegoats to conceal his glaring failures,” he said.

Ganduje claims that despite frequent attacks on villages in Bagwai, Shanono, Tsanyawa, and other places, the governor has not paid them a visit or expressed sympathy.

“His continued absence in moments that require leadership speaks volumes of his disconnect from the people he claims to serve,” the statement added.

Ganduje said that he has never been connected to violence or any actions that jeopardize Kano State’s peace and stability.

He emphasized that the accusation was merely intended to divert public attention.

Instead of engaging in political theater and making baseless accusations, he encouraged Governor Yusuf to concentrate on his constitutional obligation to safeguard Kano residents.

Recall that Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was ordered to be arrested immediately by the Kano State Government on Friday due to his inciting remarks and attempts to form an illegal military group in the state.
