Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed the three most challenging opponents he encountered throughout his playing days.
Gerrard, who represented Liverpool between 1998 and 2015, ended his long-term spell at Anfield with a short move to LA Galaxy, where he played for one season.
He hung up his boots in 2016 and transitioned into a coaching career soon after.
Since retiring, Gerrard has managed teams including Rangers in Scotland, Premier League side Aston Villa, and Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq.
In a rapid-fire interview segment with ESPN, the 45-year-old was asked to identify the most difficult players he went up against.
His response was straightforward: “Claude Makelele, Roy Keane, and Patrick Vieira.”
These football legends faced Gerrard during his time at Liverpool, while representing Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal, respectively.
