Government allocates ₦50bn for water supply projects across 20 LGAs

As part of its 2025 development goals, the Katsina State Government has set aside ₦50 billion for a number of water supply projects spread across 20 local government areas.

During the inauguration of the grievance redress committee for the Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (NG-SURWASH) program in the state on Tuesday, Mr. Tukur Hassan-Tingilin, Managing Director of the Katsina State Water Board, made this announcement.

According to him, the state’s ₦682.2 billion 2025 budget includes money for these water projects, which are intended to give citizens of the 20 local governments that are targeted, both rural and urban, sustainable access to drinkable water.

Hassan-Tingilin emphasized that during the fiscal year 2024, the state government had already invested ₦20 billion in water and sanitation projects in ten local government areas.

“For 2025, His Excellency Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has allocated over ₦50 billion to ensure sustainability and the provision of clean water across 20 local governments in Katsina State,” he added.

Additionally, he underlined the significance of the grievance resolution committee, which was set up to handle community-related concerns about ongoing SURWASH programs.

Hassan-Tingilin advised the committee members to give sustainability and appropriate project management first priority in order to secure the long-term viability of these efforts, which primarily benefit communities.
