Halima Abubakar slams AGN president with N30bn lawsuit

Halima Abubakar, a suspended Nollywood actress, has sued Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

After Rollas announced her suspension on social media, the actress also wanted N30 billion from him.

According to ZINGTIE, Abubakar was suspended for allegedly slandering Nollywood.

The actress responded to the allegations by saying that prior to the announcement, she had never been contacted or given a chance to address the allegations.

Abubakar’s attorneys, P.D. Pius & Associates, accused the AGN President of purposefully damaging her character in a letter dated October 20, 2024.

“Our client has been battling health issues for years, and despite maintaining a professional relationship, you chose this delicate moment during her recovery to spread a false narrative. This has caused her emotional distress and harmed her reputation in society.”

The attorneys also sought N30 billion in damages for reputational harm and the prompt removal of the defamatory post from Rollas’ Instagram page with unrestricted public access.

“Unless these demands are met in 7 days, we are instructed by our client to pursue appropriate legal action,” the letter’s warning stated at the end.
