After her husband reportedly killed her 63-year-old mother in Canada, Lydia Imie Ogbejiele, a grieving Nigerian woman, has described how she almost avoided death at his hands.
The incident took place in Sudbury, Ontario, on July 1, 2025.
The Greater Sudbury Police said that the suspect, Lucky Ogbejiele, killed his mother-in-law by stabbing her and severely injured his wife, but not fatally.
Despite not being hurt, their two kids were home when the incident happened.
After escaping the site, the suspect was taken into custody the next day in a wooden area with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.
After appearing in court, the accused stayed in Health Sciences North.
In a GoFundMe page created to seek funds for the repatriation of her mother’s remains to Nigeria for burial, the mother of two shared her experience. At this point, the campaign has raised more than $19,000.
