According to Orji Kalu, the lawmaker for the Abia North Senatorial District, Simon Ekpa, the self-declared leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, warned him for not backing Biafra.
In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Kalu made this claim, claiming he disregarded Ekpa’s threats against him for not endorsing Biafra agitation.
Since intelligence is the foundation of security, the congressman urged security agencies to take aggressive steps to fight crime.
“Simon Ekpa was calling and threatening me that I don’t support Biafra, but I left him to his conscience.
“I am very strong-willed when it comes to security, and I can do anything to safeguard the lives and property of the people I rule.
“You must be a strong leader to condemn crime, and I eradicated crime. No governor should tolerate any type of crime in his state; it is not allowed,” he said.
However, Kalu advised the governors in the southeast to deal with the actions of non-state actors with ruthlessness and resolve.
The pro-Biafra activist was arrested by Finnish police on November 21, according to ZINGTIE.
The Päijät-Häme district court later sentenced him to prison for disseminating terrorist propaganda on social media.
The pro-Biafra agitator will face accusations from the prosecution in May 2025, according to a district court in Finland.
